Overview
The master’s degree in mathematics aims to prepare students for employment in the private and public sectors, in areas demanding a higher knowledge of Mathematics. The program also offers the opportunity to specialize in the student’s individual area of interest. A typical master’s program will involve some compulsory basic mathematics courses plus a number of elective courses. Since most of the courses may be credited toward doctoral studies, the master’s degree may be a stepping stone to an eventual PhD degree, either in the same institute or in any leading University in Turkey or abroad.
Programme structure
Candidates for the master’s degree must choose 3 of the required compulsory courses and 4 of the elective courses for a total of 21 credits. A master’s thesis and a graduate seminar, both non-credit, must also be completed under the supervision of an adviser.
