Overview
Istanbul Kültür University, Faculty of Arts and Design, Department of Communication Arts was established in July 1997, with the contributions of Prof. Dr. Nükhet Güz. The department accepted its first students in the 2002-2003 academic year. Prof. Dr. Nükhet Güz, followed by Prof. Dr. Rengin Küçükerdoğan and Prof. Dr. Işıl Zeybek acted as department head, while Associate Prof. Dr. Volkan EKİN and Ass. Prof. Dr. Öykü Ezgi YILDIZ acted as assistant department head. From the 2009-2010 academic year onwards, the Department of Communication Arts began accepting students with their TS-1 points. The department first opened in 2001 at the main building at the Şirinevler Campus. Due to the increasing number of students applying to the department every year, the department moved to the Ataköy Campus in 2004. In 2003, the department began its masters program.
Programme structure
The department of Communication Arts (Advertising and Public Relations), which transmits aesthetic values, visual and oral arts, creativity and marketing principles, aims to equip students with the tools and means necessary for the 21st century. Students graduate as modern individuals with an artistic and scientific build-up.
The department aims to educate students so that they graduate with a broad knowledge on topics such as communication, media, culture, art, politics, and management. Thus, they can become individuals with the ability of critical thinking, original and innovative ideas, the ability to work with a team, the potential to adapt to rapidly changing conditions in the human relations and advertising fields.
Career opportunities
The students who graduates from Communication Arts Department (Advertising- Public Relations) will have titles such as ; Public relations specialist, Advertising designer/specialist, Advertising text writer, Communication strategist, Corporate communication coordinator, Communication consultant, Brand manager The graduates will be able to make a career in consumer relations or human resource departmens and also they will be able to have a career about planning and organization in culture and art areas. In addition to this the graduates will be able to prefer academic career by attending graduate and post graduate programs.
