Due to the technological development, the need of intermediate staff who can apply traditional and modern techniques in the provision of health services has become mandatory. Dialysis treatment is a process of removal of harmful substances accumulated in the body such as urea and extreme water through a membrane from the body. It is used in the treatment of advanced kidney failure. Dialysis treatment makes the patients continue their life by fixing a part of impaired kidney functions. Dialysis technicians are the staffs who support this treatment. Under the direction of doctors, dialysis technicians deal with patients, who must be connected to the dialysis machine, follow the process of the patients’ connection to the dialysis machine on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis, carry out the maintenance of machine, make the machine ready for use, deal with the patients’ other problems and have first degree liability for the connection of the machine to the patient and the usage of this machine. In case of completing the dialysis program successfully and then becoming successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam of ÖSYM, the students can make vertical transfer to the bachelor programs such as health officer, nursing, and health services.

Programme structure

Study period of this program lasts two years. Dialysis program’s curriculum has been constituted with the courses which include knowledge that can be used at every stage of business life. Anatomy, first and emergency aid, medical terminology, pharmacology, dialysis machines and equipment, principles of nutrition, pathology, infectious diseases, and dialysis applications are major courses of the program. In addition to these courses, our students are provided with the quality and accreditation in health courses.

Career opportunities

Graduates of dialysis program are employed at all institutions, especially public and private organizations, presenting dialysis health service as dialysis technicians in the line of their qualifications they have gained.
