High school graduation or its equivalent is a prerequisite for admission to any program at Istanbul Medipol University. Admission is based on a review of all credentials presented by an applicant. Scholastic background is evaluated by the Admissions Committee, along with personal qualifications and aptitude of each applicant. The application process is same for all international applicants regardless of citizenship status or country of residence. The application will be evaluated when all documents (application form, photograph, transcript, diploma and test scores) are received. SAT Reasoning Test (SAT1) and IB examination scores are strongly recommended but not required for admission. Such information will assist the evaluation process. Applicants, however, who choose not to take SAT Tests or IB examination will not be disadvantageous for admission. A provisional acceptance may be granted to applicants who have provided evidence of qualification for admission, but have yet to submit official records, test scores, or additional materials required.

İstanbul Medipol University, Department of Biomedical Engineering has been established in 2014. The students, who successfully graduate from the 4-years bachelor’s degree program of the department, are entitled Biomedical Engineers. Each year the department accepts 20 students with full scholarship. The education language is English, where language preparation class is mandatory. However, those who can prove their efficiency in English, can directly start with the regular program.
The faculties of the department all have deep international experience gained by spending long years in research and education abroad.
Besides technical courses, students are also offered additional electives such as “Technology, Society, and Professional Development” and “Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, to excel in the social responsibilities and personal career development. In concordance with the philosophy of the department paying special attention to industry-academia partnership, several distinguished internship opportunities both in local and international companies are provided.
Medical engineering is a multidisciplinary program where basic sciences, engineering and life sciences take parts. Particularly the developments ans applications in health industry play very important roles in our daily lives with significant issues in economics of the countries worldwide.
Applied research is the central philosophy of the Department of Medical Engineering at İstanbul Medipol University. The undergraduate program in Medical Engineering aims excellent education at an international level. With the strong experience, infra-structure and human resources of the Medipol University in health industry, the students are educated to deliver excellent service in design, implementation, research and development divisions of the biomedical companies and research institutions. We do our best to make our students, equipped with high analytical thinking capabilities, liable to team work, strictly following the ethical codes, and environmentally-conscious courageous leaders of tomorrow.
Our graduates will be able to work worldwide due to their high level education in English, and thus, The program provides strong partnership with the industry via several seminar and internship opportunities. Besides technical excellence in engineering, we also seek for excellence in social interactions, and thus, support our program with elective social sciences and arts courses as well as culture-preserving events.
Our graduates, who have the chance to enroll in the program run by the internationally experienced faculties, can be recruited by big companies especially focusing on medical electronics or health industry as well as national/international research institutions, governmental organizations, and similar. Medical engineers, biomedical engineers, bioinformaticions, biosensor and physiology specialists, rehabilitation engineers, system analyst, medical imaging engineer, biotechnology specialist are some of the possible titles targeting our graduates.
Besides these opportunities, we expect some part of our graduates to run their own businesses based on their new ideas or innovations they obtained during their education in the university.
Some of the graduates are expected to continue with further graduate studies targeting MSc and PhD degrees in the best national and international universities and research centers.
